Helping our community:
The Mesquite Chapter has several organizations we
support either by monetary donations or
by voluntary help. Here are just a few:
- National Living Endowment Fund
- Mission East Dallas - Dental
Clinic
- Mesquite Public Library
- Meadowview School
- KidQuest Park
- Mesquite Youth Services
- Mesquite Arts Center
- And More...
We also enjoy participating in
events such as building wheelchair
ramps, community clean up, ?????
AmTryke Program:
For years, the AmTryke has
benefited and delighted children with
disabilities. It has allowed
them to experience the pleasure of
riding freely even among peers without
disabilities. Physical
therapists acknowledge the AmTryke's
therapeutic benefits to patients,
citing improved motor skills and
strength development. In fact,
the AmTryke was inspired by a
therapist. Check our the AmTrykes!
Scholarships Program:
AMBUCS offers
scholarships to students (U.S.
citizens) in their junior/senior year
in a bachelor's degree program, or a
graduate program leading to a master's
or doctoral degree.
Awards range from $500
to $1,500 annually. There is one
two-year award in the amount of
$6,000. Approximately $225,000
is awarded nationally. Award
monies are deposited each semester to
the student's credit account with the
financial aid office of the
educational institution. Students must
be accepted in an accredited program
by the appropriate health therapy
profession authority in physical
therapy, occupational therapy, speech
language pathology, and hearing
audiology. Assistant programs
are not eligible.
Awards are based on
financial need, US citizenship,
commitment to local community,
demonstrated academic accomplishment,
character for compassion and
integrity, and career objectives.
AMBUCS will accept
applications from January 15th until
April 15th. Semi-finalists will
be contacted after April 15th.
Locally we offer the
Big Hat Scholarship fund.
Fund raising:
All of the projects we
do require not only our time but also
money. The truth is that without that
we would not be able to offer these
children the therapy bikes they need
or help in the training of therapy
workers. Through private donations,
business sponsorships and donations,
and members we support these efforts.
We host a few events such as our
Pancake breakfast and Big Hat golf
tournament.
